The Story

Amelia Earhart after her first flight said: “By the time I had got two or three hundred feet off the ground I knew I had to fly”.

Keen to look the part she bought a leather jacket, wore it to bed for 3 nights to wear it in and cropped her hair short. Dubbed ‘Queen of the Air’ by the American press she would become the first person to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1932, landing triumphantly in a field of cows.

Effortlessly stylish she was rarely photographed without a silk scarf. She disappeared in the South Pacific attempting to fly around the world – mystery still surrounds her death.
